2nd Battle of Trenton
The 2nd Battle of Trenton is also called the Battle of the Assunpink Creek and it was fought on the morning of the 2nd of January 1777. After Washington won the first battle Lord Cornwallis led 5,000 troops to Trenton. Washington also prepared for this battle by building earthworks for a span of 4.8km. He also sent raids on the approaching British army. The Americans had very good techniques. They waited until the British had reached the woods and then fired from between the trees. Then they retreated to a new position when the British put themselves into a formation. The colonists only had 1,000 more men than the British and most of them were untrained. However, they still managed to defeat the British by organising raids and using good tactics. The colonists lost 7-100 men and the British lost 55-365 men. We know that the British lost more men so it could not have been something like 100 men lost on the American side and 55 men lost on the British side.
